whether caused by war, conflict, or natural disaster. |

United Methodist Volunteers in Mission
– UMVIM
UMVIM provides opportunities for service in places around the
world by developing and nurturing relationships with domestic
and international leaders. |

Pastor Richard and 'Ofa’s mission work
in Tonga
Since the hurricane in 2000, the Thompsons and a group from
Tennessee have been taking a construction and medical team –
every two years – to help rebuild the island. |
|
|
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing and
homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter
of conscience and action. |

|
Heifer Project
Heifer Project provides animal livestock for families in need.
The animals’ offspring are then shared with more families. |
|
|
Red Bird Mission and School in Beverly,
Kentucky
This school services children who live in poverty in the
Appalachian Mountains. With less than 2% of the costs coming
from tuition because of poverty in the area, funds are needed to
help keep the school in operation |

Bakersfield Homeless Center, Discovery Depot,
and Alliance Against Family Violence
These local organizations provide support and resources to
families and individuals in crisis. Our church helps serve
dinner one Monday night each month. If you are interested in
serving dinner on Monday nights, please contact Barbara
Breedlove. |

Love INC – Love In the Name of Christ
This organization mobilizes the Church to transform lives and
communities in the Name of Christ. |

|
CASA – Court Appointed Special
Advocates
This program supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer
advocacy for abused and neglected children so they can thrive in
safe, permanent homes |

|
Liz Kidz & More Kidz
This is an FUMC program which was created to support educators
from our congregation who teach in Title One (poverty
designation) schools throughout Kern County. |

|
FUMC Youth
Mark Langman leads the youth in various projects, such as the 30-hour Famine. |
|
|
United Methodist Women
This group supports local and global mission projects. All women
of the church, 18 years and older are eligible for membership.
They meet every second Thursday in the Fellowship Hall. If you

|
Prayers and Squares quilt ministry
This group sews lap quilts to those requesting prayers from the
congregation. Anyone wishing to sew with the group, contact
Isabel Carrera. |

|
Prayer Shawl ministry
This group knits and crochets shawls for those in need of prayer
and comfort. If interested, contact Sharon Wainwright. |

|
FUMC Food Pantry
The Food Pantry provides canned goods and a fresh produce gift
card to those who come to the church office in need of food. |

Vacation Bible School mission project
Each year, VBS chooses a mission project to support. |

Counseling Center of FUMC
Professional, licensed therapists offer lower-cost services to
our wider community. If you need these services, you may call

Nothing But Nets
A global grassroots campaign to save lives by
preventing malaria through the distribution of bed nets. |

Angel Tree (Prison
Fellowship)
Angel Tree works by connecting parents in
prison with their children through delivery of Christmas gifts
by local churches. The contact person is Diana Taylor. |

Senior Get-A-Way
The Senior Get-A-Way is a friendly, no
pressure, happy gathering for any senior. They meet every
Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall from 10:00AM - 1:30PM for fun,
fellowship, games, Bible study, lunch ($3), and a program.
